This weekend I went to see one of my clients play live music with his band in Akasaka. When he came up to chat during the set break, he told me when he saw me come in, he checked his posture on stage!
I hear this all the time. (Many of you may remember saying something similar when we first met!) You already know that chiropractic can help with your posture.
Hunching over the computer for years on end doesn't end well. In fact, there is one type of "bad posture" that gives you a 44% higher chance of dying. In a study of people aged 55 and older, this one type of posture was a precursor to early death.
My guess is you would like to avoid this particular type of bad posture.
The one posture I’m talking about that increases risk of death is hyperkyphosis. If you don’t know what that means, let’s break it down:
Hyper means above. When a child is hyperactive, they are *above* a normal level of activity.
Kyphosis comes from the Greek word for hunchback and it’s the anatomical term for the curve of the mid back.
So, if someone has hyperkyphosis, they have a larger than normal mid-back curve. You know that hump you see on people’s upper backs as they start to get older? Yeah, that’s what we’re talking about here.
How to avoid this killer condition:
Get healthy motion in all of your spinal joints. This is what the chiropractic adjustment does so well by breaking up old scar tissue and retraining your brain to hold you in better alignment. Book your consultation here.
Strengthen your spinal muscles. This is why I give tailored exercises like these to my clients at specific points along their care.
Retrain your bad posture. I use technology and years of clinical experience to measure and analyze my clients’ posture and set them up with the tools they need to stand taller.
Feed your spinal discs. Your discs need specific nutrition including water, a healthy electrolyte balance, and healthy blood sugar in order to avoid degeneration over time.
Educate yourself on how you ended up with poor posture in the first place. My free fortnightly Better Results Faster workshop goes over more posture and health tips that you can implement immediately. Sign up here.
If you or someone you care about would like to join an upcoming workshop to help with their posture, please join us on an upcoming Wednesday from 7:00 to 7:45pm. Click here to save your seat.
